Esthetics Foundations Program

(EF)

 

The Esthetics Foundations Program was reviewed and approved by the Registrar of the 聽of the Ministry of Post Secondary Education and Future Skills in British Columbia, Canada.

Course Description:

At the end of the program, students will have demonstrated the theoretical knowledge and practice area skills to be competent esthetic professionals. The program will allow students to gain theoretical and practical knowledge in Aesthetics. Upon completion, graduates can practice as Aestheticians. They will be able to:

  • Outline general trade practices for the industry.
  • Demonstrate professional grooming and proper hygienic and sanitation procedures.聽
  • Demonstrate effective client communication and professionalism.聽
  • Explain and outline procedures related to infection control and its importance.聽
  • Explain Chemistry and Chemical Safety.聽
  • Explain key principles related to electricity and electrical safety.
  • Outline what is meant by the 鈥淏eauty Business.鈥澛
  • Students will also demonstrate effective skills to industry standards in nail technology (manicure and pedicure), waxing, make-up foundations, and waxing.

Admission Requirements:听

(1)聽Applicants should be high school graduates (B.C. Certificate of Graduation – “Dogwood Diploma” or B.C. Adult Graduation Diploma – “Adult Dogwood”) OR 19 years or older at the start of the applicant鈥檚 program.

(2) Applicants who wish to qualify as domestic students must produce valid documentation confirming their legal status as Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

(3) Applicants classified as International students must meet the requirements for international students studying in Canada as listed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

(4) All coursework is delivered in English at CCBC, requiring students to demonstrate proficiency to succeed in their programs. Applicants must submit proof of meeting the language proficiency requirement. This proof will be evaluated fairly and consistently by the Registrar鈥檚 Office.聽Standardized English Language test/assessment scores to be at a level equivalent to IELTS 5.5.

Applicants must provide evidence of聽one聽of the following:

  • Completion of grades 9-11, including English 11 with a grade of 鈥楥鈥 or higher from a country where English is one of the principal languages, or
  • Completion of 2 years of full-time post-secondary education* at an accredited institution where English is the language of instruction, or
  • Evidence of graduation from a language program with an established聽pathway/articulation agreement allowing direct entry (no further testing required) to a diploma or degree program at a public institution in Canada, or
  • Evidence of achievement in a recognized standardized language test/assessment at an overall level equivalent to IELTS 5.5 (academic) or higher. Provide verified results for one of the English language proficiency tests listed below. (Test results must be dated no more than two years before the start date of the program).聽

聽Fees and tuition:听

  • Textbook: Milady textbook series (most recent edition) Cost is approximately $500
  • Tuition: $2000 (Regularly $6000) can be paid in 1, 2 or 3 installments
  • Application Fee: $150 is paid at the time of registration and is non-refundable
  • Course Kits (worth about $500) are included in the program fees.
  • Upon completion of the program, students may wish to purchase more materials (such as waxing strips, nail accessories, facial products, makeup, etc.) from a third-party vendor.聽

International students, please note:听

  • CCBC is a private institution. Graduates of private training institutions are聽not eligible聽for the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP).
  • If your program is 15 weeks or longer, you must have sufficient healthcare insurance coverage for your stay in Canada.聽

Employment:

Graduates could work as professionals in a spa/salon, health center, cruise ship, and private practice as esthetician generalist, manicurist, nail care technician, pedicurist, or facial esthetician. This program does not lead to employment in a career occupation that is regulated by a regulator.聽
